A show characterized by costumes and reconstructions of the Middle Ages that in such way seems less gloomy and dark to us. The real protagonists are members of Corporations, associations and historical districts of the city: people who love to give value to their history and origins. The love for their land becomes a stimulus to assume the role of court ladies and knighted men. These people run through the streets accompanied by the typical medieval musicality characterized by the sound of trumpets and drums that, playing in unison, introduce the walk-on to the gaze of thousands of visitors that every year join the event. The crossbow tournament is one of the higlights of the event. The aim of the tournament, is to commemorate the strength of will showed by the citizens of Villa Di Chiesa in defending their castle against the attack of the Spanish troops. The episode recalls specifically the effrontery of spanish warrior D’Amposta, who challenged the aim of the iglesiani arrows reaching the walls of the castle, here he died pierced by the precision of a sardinian crossbowman.
