Nativity in Rivisondoli know the magic atmosphere that there is during the day of Christmas. The passion and the disinterested desire of all make this event one of the most beautiful native scene of Italy. The manifestation has very ancient origins,it's began in 1951 to commemorate the victims of the massacre of Pietransieri. Today there are about
300 characters and they make Rivisondoli a country of other times. The background of Rivisondoli is a perfect location for the event. The houses turn on their lights, the bells begin to ring, approximately
20.000 people enjoy of the show that celebrates the Nativity. It is a event among the most important in Abruzzo and it’s,
each 5 January, an appointment for the believers but also a new experience for the many who have never participated. Among the curiosities the choice of the child which will impersonates Jesus, in fact every year is chosen the last born of the country, while the virgin Mary is chosen with a specific selection during the 8 December, the figure of St. Joseph is represented by a citizen of Rivisondoli.
