THE WOLF IS BACK

wolfs in Abruzzo

Untitled document

Pescasseroli (L'Aquila), 4 February 2012 - In the last 24 hours have been recorded numerous wolves sightings in the lands of Abruzzo National Park, driven by the abundant snowfall to find easy prey in chicken coops and pens set up in the margins of Pescasseroli, Opi , Villetta Barrea, Civitella Alfedana and Barrea.
In four cases the powerful animal, has been watched even in the center of the village, attracted by the waste in the bins that weren't emptied due to the impassable roads.
In Pescasseroli a wonderful adult was photographed by residents during the day just 30 meters from the main square.
The snow blanket also makes life difficult for the deers, pushing them at low altitude to search for weeds that remain uncovered by the snow around the trees in private gardens.
No fear, however: the wolf at the sight of man scrutinizes him suspiciously, but then fled after a few seconds.
