THE THREE PEAKS

dolomiti charm

The Three Peaks stand out from the slope of the Belluno Dolomites, near the town of Auronzo di Cadore. I am a true spectacle of nature, designed not only from the climber but also from artistic, given the particular forms.

Have an average height of no more than 3,000 meters and their geographical location has seen opposing the municipalities Auronzo di Cadore and Dubbiaco. After long disputes, the second seems to have "won" a small part.

The three hills are within easy reach, provided it has a minimum training trips to alpine. The steps are essentially two: from the valley or lake Rienza Landro, or you cross the first Fischleintal. An easier way to get there, albeit a little green, is to travel by car the road that starts from the town Misurina.

The Three Peaks have also been one of the many theaters of war during the First World War. As reflected in the various tunnels that were dug in order to protect themselves from enemy weapons. The refuge Auronzo, one of two along the slope, has represented several times the arrival of Italy bicycle race. For the impenetrable nature of the track, big names in cycling have first to cross the threshold of the goal: Gimondi, Motta, Merckx.
