GARDEN OF NINFA

A garden in which immerse oneself.

Centuries of history for to define the fate of this village to Cisterna di Latina. Ninfa was a sought after village from the papal thirst for power and from the wish to control of  rich families. Finally in 1921 the Caetani family becames the new owner and this family began a work of drainage and restoration of the area through the insertion of a well suited vegetation to the humid climate of the area. From D'Annunzio to Mussolini, there have been many personalities who visited this enchanted garden that today is the base of the Foundation Roffredo Caetani Sermoneta, and was also declared a WWF oasis. The garden is shot though by numerous streams and by the river Ninfa, and it is constituted of an infinite variety of plants originating from all part of the world; for example the Japanese vinegar or the Photinia serrulata. Protagonists of the garden are, beyond the plantation, the ruins of the old  town, mills, roads, bridges, a castle and the City Hall. The stately home to set against the walls is  particularly beauty, this house has the mullioned window with two lights in Gothic style.
