Valete urban labores valete procul animi priori incantatem me exceeds convexa at sylvae et fonteis et quid quid east to altiora eloquent naturae eveha Deum; these are the words impressed on the triumphal arch ,that is at the entrance of the garden of Villa Durazzo Pallavicini (Pegli, Genova). This expression invites the population to abandon material assets in order to have a quiet life in the countryside. When we go in this romantic garden of the XIX century we understand that the author of this phrase is right . In this Park, thank to the creativity of the architect Michael Canzio, there is an theatrical atmosphere got by the combination of neoclassical scenery with a Gothic style and exotic elements. This park is metaphor of a theatrical work. The prologue runs along the sides of the classic alley and, in this street ,there are two buildings: the Coffee House and the triumphal Arch, in order to recreate a city environment .The first Act is concentrated on the nature, it’s represented with a rich collection of camellias; the second act symbolizes the History through medieval ruins. The third Act represents the theme of purification. Here, the theme is constituted by caves that symbolizes the Underworld, while the Great Lake, with neo-gothic temple of Diana in the middle, is an interpretation of Paradise.
