Michelangelo’s David
The Accademia Gallery is one of the most important museums in Italy and is now centered around Michelangelo’s sculptures, specially his universal masterpiece: the David.
Founded in 1561 as a drawing Academy, the Accademia has now a fine collection of religious art and musical instruments. In 1873, the David was removed from Piazza della Signoria and placed inside the Accademia Gallery, making it one of Italy’s most visited museum.

Entry and visit the Sala del Colosso where a religious renaissance collection of paintings is located. Tour of the “unfinished Slaves” by Michelangelo and entry to the main lodge where Michelangelo’s David is located, historical and artistic in depth explanation. Visit to ther sections including Byzantine style iconography, plaster collection and musical instruments section. Stop at bookshop and exit.
For 3 hours visit with walking tour, walk through the historical center area, mainly Piazza della Signoria, Duomo area and San Lorenzo Square on your way to the Accademia Gallery.
