MATERA

orient taste

Matera is the largest village and the capital of Basilicata. Situated on a quaint area consists of tuffaceous material. The environment is marked by typical ravines that occupy this part of southern Italy.
Just the old, dating back even to prehistoric times, is a series of buildings carved into the rock, also known as the Sassi of Matera. These are divided into two parts: Barisan Sasso and  Sasso Caveoso. The landscape so striking as to be counted among the World Heritage List.
Belonging to the ancient Matera is also the Cathedral, the typical expression of the architecture of Puglia in the Gothic period, within which retains a crib tuffaceous material. To reconstruct the extraordinary story of Luke is the city hosts the National Museum, with precious artefacts.
Lukan-style gourmet, cuisine typical of the city goes back to the conspicuous consumption of vegetables and rearing flock. The most popular desserts, still a tradition in the country, are the so-called "ciciri" small chocolates flour, fried in oil and then seasoned with honey.
In short, the Sassi of Matera is a masterpiece of adaptation in human nature more inaccessible.
