Every year in early December, Milan is in fibrillation for the imminent launch of the concert season of the Teatro alla Scala. The "first", in fact, all the most important figures gather to attend the opening of the theater in Milan.
The idea of its construction is due to the queen Maria Theresa of Austria, after the previous Teatro Ducale was lost after a fire. The name, "Scala", it must homonym existing church. Always with the same label is the close proximity and the large square, the vital center of the "Milan well."
The author of the Teatro alla Scala is the famous architect Giuseppe Piermarini Foligno. The style is that of his time, that is neoclassical. The original intent was to emulate the Reggia Caserta, especially the magnificent match. Was further elaborated in the following decades, and currently can hold about 2,000 spectators.
In more than two centuries of activity has seen the stage so many great conductors and performers. Among the former we Gioacchino Rossini, Giuseppe Verdi and Giacomo Puccini. Are no less great performers, like Maria Callas, Luciano Pavarotti and Giuseppe di Stefano.
